{"id":15102,"date":"2020-03-04T21:25:13","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T21:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/provost\/?p=15102"},"modified":"2021-10-14T17:20:42","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T17:20:42","slug":"ur-data-strategy-2020-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/provost\/ur-data-strategy-2020-21\/","title":{"rendered":"UR Data Strategy 2020-21"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vision: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our vision is that institutional data are securely accessible, understood, and trusted and are used in a consistent, responsible, and meaningful manner in order to increase interoperability, ensure reliability, and inform decision making in our community.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals to help achieve that vision:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Manage like a master<\/strong>: Enable and support\nthe collection and management of master data elements for broad community\nuse.&nbsp;&nbsp; Addresses interoperability,\nreliability, consistency, secure accessibility.<\/li><li><strong>Improve intelligence and involvement<\/strong>: build\ndata literacy for staff across the university including data users, business\nprocess owners, and technology providers. Addresses understood, meaningful,\nreliable. <\/li><li><strong>Connect and converse<\/strong>:&nbsp; support the change that is required to build\ncommunity where data activities are appreciated and data are appropriately\nshared. Addresses trusted, responsible, and reliable, and informing.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activities that help achieve these goals:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create master data models as a foundation for\nbroad-use master data collections. <\/li><li>Build data collections that the master data\nmodels describe and ensure people and processes are in place to keep\ncollections current. <\/li><li>Enable a management and dissemination platform\nfor data stewards to create and update master data for downstream users to\nconsume. <\/li><li>Improve data awareness in process design by\nconsulting with project teams before processes and platforms are designed,\nbuilt, or acquired.<\/li><li>Formalize data requirements gathering as part of\nthe technology investment process to ensure appropriate data capture,\nreporting, and storage capabilities.<\/li><li>Increase the data usage and handling skills of\nstaff across the university to reduce anxiety about working with data and\nimprove data processes, products, and output. <\/li><li>Provide a foundation for collaboration across\nvarious silos and data deserts to help manage expectations and improve trust\nand data sharing. <\/li><li>Create robust change management and\ncommunication strategies to bring awareness to the importance of data\nactivities.<\/li><li>Connect data users and analysts across the\nenterprise to build a community and increase trust and reduce unnecessary\nduplication.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vision: Our vision is that institutional data are securely accessible, understood, and trusted and are used in a consistent, responsible, and meaningful manner in order to increase interoperability, ensure reliability,&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[116],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-15102","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-data-governance"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
