{"id":8256,"date":"2025-03-07T14:31:19","date_gmt":"2025-03-07T19:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sexualmisconduct\/?page_id=8256"},"modified":"2025-08-18T15:01:01","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T19:01:01","slug":"syllabus-statement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sexualmisconduct\/resources\/syllabus-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"Syllabus Statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Syllabus Statement<\/h3>\n<p>Instructors should include the following statement in the course syllabus about Title IX for students:<\/p>\n<p data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">All members of the University of Rochester community have the right to learn and work in a safe environment free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation.\u00a0 This includes discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics, and Title IX-prohibited behaviors, which include sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. Students who have been subjected to sexual misconduct have the right to receive academic and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sexualmisconduct\/title-ix-explained\/supportive-measures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other supportive measures<\/a>, to receive counseling and health services, and to make a report to the university and\/or to law enforcement. In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sexualmisconduct\/title-ix-explained\/pregnant-and-parenting-students\/\">students who are pregnant, have recently experienced childbirth, and\/or have medical needs related to childbirth<\/a>\u00a0can contact the Title IX office for assistance.<\/p>\n<p>All <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sexualmisconduct\/resources\/mandatory-reporter\/\">faculty and teaching assistants are mandatory reporters<\/a> who must report Title IX-prohibited behavior to the Title IX office. Students can also contact the Title IX Office directly (<a href=\"mailto:titleix@rochester.edu\">titleix@rochester.edu<\/a>\u00a0or <i class=\"fas fa-phone\"><\/i> <strong>585-275-1654<\/strong>).
