{"id":9436,"date":"2024-09-23T15:12:32","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T19:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sustainability\/?p=9436"},"modified":"2025-12-29T12:28:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T17:28:11","slug":"former-dining-director-recognized-for-accomplishments-in-food-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/sustainability\/former-dining-director-recognized-for-accomplishments-in-food-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Former dining director recognized for accomplishments in food services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cam Schauf, former Director of Dining Services and Auxiliary Operations at the University of Rochester, has been recently recognized by the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nacufs.org\/\">National Association of College and University Food Services<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NACUFS) for his outstanding accomplishments in the growth and development of food service at the University. Schauf, having retired from Rochester in 2022, was awarded the 2024 <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nacufs.org\/membership\/awards-recognition\/individual-awards\/\">David R. Prentkowski Distinguished Lifetime Member Award<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> based on nominations from his peers and colleagues. Other recipients of this award include Mona Milius from the University of Northern Iowa and Rich Neumann from Ohio University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During Schauf\u2019s 25 years of service across five different colleges and universities, he worked to develop six pillars of sustainability to guide the University\u2019s dining program &#8211;<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/university-ranked-in-top-ten-best-colleges-for-food\/\"> buy locally, responsible purchasing, waste minimization, education, energy and water conservation, and green buildings and operations<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Schauf\u2019s leadership in expanding sustainability throughout Rochester\u2019s dining services have resulted in both individual and campus wide recognition. Alongside the more recent NACUFS award, Schauf was recognized as the Individual <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/senecaparkzoo.org\/award-winners\/\">Winner for Seneca Park Zoo Society\u2019s Environmental Innovation Award<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2019. NACUFS also recognized the University\u2019s Dining Services by presenting them the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/university-dining-services-recognized-for-environmentally-sustainable-operations-329412\/\">Gold Award for Procurement Practices in 2018 Sustainability Awards<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am also touched and honored to be receiving an award named for David Prentkowski. Dave was a role model and a friend through much of my career,\u201d Schauf said. \u201cI know it has been the people I have worked with, mentored and served through the years that have made a tremendous difference in my life, and I believe I have made a difference in the lives of others as well. I owe a good deal of my success to NACUFS and all of my NACUFS friends. I love this association and couldn&#8217;t think of a bigger honor than being recognized by NACUFS and its members.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NACUFS was founded in 1958 by food service professionals and recognizes colleges and universities, as well as individual leaders for their success in developing excellence in collegiate dining. NACUFS highlights organizations worldwide, making the recognition of Schuaf and the University an incredible achievement.
