University Counseling Center (UCC)

Kelly Willson, Ph.D.

Kelly received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She worked in Iowa as a Case Worker for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and in Pennsylvania as a residential counselor for persons with chronic mental illness. She received her Master's degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Washington State University, completing research in aspects of Gender and Racial identity.

Kelly completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Texas at Austin Counseling and Mental Health Center. She worked for one year at the Colorado State University Counseling Center. From 1993-2010 Kelly worked as a Senior Staff Psychologist at the University Counseling Service at the University of Iowa. She was active in training and supervision, outreach and consultation, as well as psychotherapy.

Kelly is delighted to be a part of the UCC staff – glad to provide counseling for undergrad and grad students dealing with a wide range of issues and identities, to supervise staff in training and coordinate the Postdoctoral Fellowship, and to be actively involved in the diverse U of R campus community.
