Victim of Hazing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Facts about hazing:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Hazing in any form is prohibited at the University of Rochester.<\/li>\n<li>Hazing is defined as any action taken or situation created on or off campus, which recklessly or intentionally produces mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment or ridicule.<\/li>\n<li>Hazing is sometimes used as a rite of passage or initiation into a campus organization.<\/li>\n<li>Hazing can be psychologically damaging and present serious physical risks (including death) to students.<\/li>\n<li>A student may or may not know that hazing will be a part of an initiation process.<\/li>\n<li>A student may or may not know how extreme hazing might become during an initiation process.<\/li>\n<li>Hazing is illegal in the State of New York.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What You Can Do:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to the victimized student in private.<\/li>\n<li>Recognize that the student may be feeling vulnerable and experiencing a range of emotions.<\/li>\n<li>Advise the student to report the incident to the Dean of Students Office.<\/li>\n<li>Advise the student to report the incident to the University Security (85) 275-3333<\/li>\n<li>Refer the student to the office that oversees the organization in question.<\/li>\n<li>Refer the student for a follow-up at the University Counseling Center, if appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Don&#8217;t:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimize the situation.<\/li>\n<li>Agree to maintaining confidentiality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Guide Table of
