{"id":5902,"date":"2023-08-31T11:45:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T15:45:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/university-research\/?p=5902"},"modified":"2024-08-29T10:05:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T14:05:02","slug":"compliance-notice-tiktok-federal-contracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/university-research\/compliance-notice-tiktok-federal-contracts\/","title":{"rendered":"Compliance Notice: FAR Clause Bans TikTok on Devices used for Federal Contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>August 31, 2023<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The University is issuing a compliance notice to ensure that the University of Rochester community is aware of the restrictions imposed by the new Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause <a class=\"u-link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.acquisition.gov\/far\/52.204-27\">52.204-27 Prohibition on a ByteDance Covered Application.<\/a> At this time, this compliance notice applies only to requirements under the University\u2019s federal contracts, and does not apply to the University\u2019s federal grants.<\/p>\n<h3>General compliance responsibilities for the University of Rochester community<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals are prohibited from having or using <strong>TikTok<\/strong> or any successor application or service by <strong>ByteDance Limited<\/strong> on any information technology equipment or system used under a federal contract that contains FAR clause 52.204-27, whether the information technology equipment is issued by the University or is personally owned.<\/li>\n<li>Principal investigators who are responsible for federal contracts that contain FAR clause 52.204-27 will be required to sign a certification addressing compliance with the clause.<\/li>\n<li>Individuals who have the TikTok application on a personally owned device (such as a computer or cell phone), and who use or intend to use such device in the performance of a federal contract that contains FAR clause 52.204-27, must immediately remove the TikTok application.<\/li>\n<li>Individuals who perform work under a federal contract and who use a mobile device that is fully managed by the University must contact the University IT Helpdesk (<a href=\"mailto:univithelp@rochester.edu\">univithelp@rochester.edu<\/a>, (585) 275-2000) or ISD Helpdesk; <a href=\"mailto:ISDHelpdesk@URMC.Rochester.edu\">ISDHelpdesk@URMC.Rochester.edu<\/a>, (585) 275-3200), who will assist you in removing and blocking covered applications from your mobile device.<\/li>\n<li>The University must flow down FAR clause 52.204-27 to its subcontractors under an applicable federal contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The University may update this Compliance Notice as additional guidance regarding the interim rule is issued.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 31, 2023 The University is issuing a compliance notice to ensure that the University of Rochester community is aware of the restrictions imposed by the new Federal Acquisition Regulation&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":76,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5902","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
