Engaging ALL Students in Rigorous Science Learning through Ambitious Science Teaching<\/div>\n
This PLC will explore how Ambitious Science Teaching (AST) may serve as a research-based framework to help teachers to identify and develop curricular materials that support students in making sense of real-world phenomena by applying core disciplinary ideas and crosscutting concepts. Participants will become familiar with the four core practices of AST, including planning for engagement with big ideas, eliciting student ideas, supporting ongoing changes in student thinking, and pressing for evidence-based explanations. Participants will also have an opportunity to explore and gather resources that may be used to develop AST aligned science lessons and unit plans.\u00a0 Finally, participants will explore how AST and core practices promote equity by supporting all learners in engaging in science like scientists to uncover big ideas.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
