Tanya Ross is a current member of the Northeast NOYCE Teacher Leader Cadre and is an emeritus of both the New York State Master Teacher program and the NOYCE Be-A-JEDI Master Teaching Fellowship. Ms. Ross most recently earned a Master of Science in Education in Inclusive and Special Education, as well as a certificate of advanced study in Digitally Rich Teaching in K-12 Schools, from the University of Rochester Warner School of Education as a part of the NOYCE Be-A-JEDI program. Previously, Ms. Ross earned her BS in Biology from SUNY Fredonia, MSEd in Counseling from Alfred University, completing the Teacher Certification Program and post-graduate work at Elmira College. Prior to teaching, she worked within the field of mental health as a National Board Certified Counselor and as Director of Community Residence Services for Pathways, Inc. She entered the field of education in 2007, choosing to utilize her invaluable experiences in mental health and returning to her roots. Through this transition, she was able to fulfill two passions: supporting youth in their development to become successful, productive, and healthy adults while sharing her passion for biological sciences and the outdoors. Ms. Ross currently teaches Regents level and college level biology at Hornell Jr.\/Sr. High School, where she has also served as Class Advisor, Student Government Advisor, Teacher Mentor, and is a member of many subcommittees. Ms. Ross has dedicated her practice to creating inclusive opportunities for students to autonomously engage in authentic and relevant scientific experiences and discourse. She is also actively involved in her community as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor with her son\u2019s BSA Troop. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, camping, fishing, kayaking, serving as a lifeguard at the Hornell YMCA, as well as cheering as an ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills.<\/p>\n
