‘The Voice of Our Collection’

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Memorial Art Gallery docent program. The museum recognizes the service and commitment of these special volunteers—the cadre of community members who serve as tour guides and help visitors observe, question, and discuss works of art.

 

Researcher, Scientist, Diplomat

Distinguished alumnus Norman Neureiter ’52 is widely honored for his efforts to share scientific and technological information and negotiate cooperative agreements around the world. The life of this one-time advisor to Richard Nixon, Madeleine Albright, and Colin Powell reads like a novel, too, with compelling settings, political intrigue, and a global cast of characters.

 

‘Real Readers’ Give Rochester Students an Edge

Real readers are University alumni, parents, and friends who volunteer their time to give students “real world” feedback on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and other materials they prepare for a course required of all engineering students.

New Warner Dean


The University recently announced that Anand R. Marri has been appointed dean of the Warner School of Education. With a background in secondary and higher education, Marri served as the highest-ranking officer for education in the Federal Reserve System. His appointment begins January 1.

Hate and Intolerance Podcast


Nora Rubel, the Jane and Allen Batkin Professor of Jewish Studies and chair of the Department of Religion and Classics, Thomas Fleischman, assistant professor of history, and Laura Elenbaas, assistant professor of psychology, discuss reactions to recent incidents of hate, important lessons from history, and the psychology of stereotypes and intolerance.

Expand your personal and professional networks at the annual Student-Alumni Networking Nights in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Silicon Valley this January, co-hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Gwen M. Greene Center for Career Education and Connections. Join fellow alumni and parents, as well as current students who are eager to hear career advice from both young and seasoned professionals alike. While admission is free, advance registration is requested.
