University News

Following President Joel Seligman’s resignation in January, philosopher and former dean of the College Richard Feldman was appointed interim president designate. In a January message to mark the spring semester, Feldman said that “Rochester has an opportunity to be a model of respect for all.” He also expressed his hope that the University community can begin a period of healing and rebuilding, a process guided by “our respect for each other and our differences in a campus community that is safe and inclusive for all.”

As part of that process, the University has created a new website with an overriding theme of “Cultivating a Culture of Respect.” The site outlines each of the Report of the Independent Investigation’s recommendations as well as other climate-related issues under review. Information will be updated regularly to show progress and include timelines for key steps.
