University of Rochester Washington, D.C. Network News

Dear Philip,

Autumn is here and the upcoming season reminds us that we have much for which to be thankful. In that spirit, our D.C. Network participated in the University of Rochester's Global Day of Service in mid-September. An energized group, led by Debra Drumheller '74, helped serve breakfast and assisted clients at Charlie's Place, a local organization that supports the homeless. We would love to expand our service program next year, and it's not too early to think about other area organizations in need. We look forward to hearing your suggestions.

October ushered in the pinnacle of University celebrations: Meliora Weekend. Those of us who made the trip north were rewarded with four full days of insightful presenters, entertaining performances, great athletics, and events for participants of all ages. Alumni with class years ending in 2 and 7 also celebrated their reunions and all the joy that comes with seeing old friends in a comfortably familiar place.

If you didn't attend Meliora Weekend or haven't returned to campus recently, we strongly encourage you to do so. The impact of The Meliora Challenge can be seen throughout the University in new facilities, enhanced academics, and increased financial support for faculty and students. These improvements will make a positive impact for many years to come.

This is a busy season for us all, but we hope you'll make time to attend one of our upcoming events. To make sure you receive D.C. Network news and event invitations, please share your up-to-date contact information here. Thanks again for all you do and happy holidays.
