Record Number Celebrate Endowed Scholarships at University-Wide Dinner

A record number of people attended the University of Rochester’s Celebration of Scholarships dinner on April 11. Held in the M&T Ballroom at the Memorial Art Gallery, the event recognized the generosity of endowed scholarship donors and the accomplishments of the students they support. The annual dinner, now in its third year, is a unique opportunity for donors and recipients of endowed scholarships to meet and interact.

Speakers included President Joel Seligman and endowed scholarship supporters Board Chair Ed Hajim ’58 and Trustee Nancy Lieberman ’77, who is also co-chair of the scholarships initiative for The Meliora Challenge: The Campaign for the University of Rochester. Students Bradley Forsythe ’14N, recipient of the Mabel M. and A. T. Hatch Memorial Scholarship, and Julia Frisk ’12, recipient of the Constantino Family Scholarship, were featured during the event. Closing the program, baritone Garrett Rubin ’13E, recipient of the William and Jocelyn Macy Sloan Scholarship, performed an Italian aria accompanied by Yi-Wen Lai ’13E (MM).

Scholarship support is among the highest priorities of The Meliora Challenge, the largest comprehensive Campaign in the University’s history. Undergraduate and graduate scholarships and fellowships ensure that every qualified student, regardless of financial circumstances, can afford to attend the University of Rochester. This support also helps Rochester continue to attract high-performing students, shape a diverse learning community, and educate society’s future leaders.
