A group of reporting units organized under a common responsibility (usually a dean or equivalent) with total financial responsibility and reporting. There are 15 divisions and each has a standard code:

• 021 School of Arts and Sciences;
• 022 Edmund A. Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences;
• 023 Simon Graduate School;
• 024 Warner Graduate School;
• 030 Eastman School of Music;
• 040 School of Medicine and Dentistry;
• 050 Strong Memorial Hospital;
• 060 School of Nursing;
• 070 Memorial Art Gallery;
• 080 University General;
• 090 University of Rochester Medical Center;
• 091 University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group;
• 092 Eastman Institute of Oral Health.

The logical grouping of HR departments based on function. Examples: Pediatrics, Nursing Practice, Human Resources, and Facilities.

Department families are useful in grouping similar activities across divisions and departments. For example, facilities staff are represented in most divisions and as "subdepartments" within some larger departments. A facilities department family allows reporting and analysis of facilities activity across division or department lines.

A logical grouping of people with a common business purpose. Groupings are determined by the business areas and are not assigned centrally. HRMS departments rarely, if ever, match cost center (Workday)s.

An alphanumeric identifier associated with the job code description.

Job codes are used to categorize job functions, pay grade categories, and job families.

A textual description representing high level categorization of job codes, primarily used for recruiting purposes. See also Job Family, code.

A classification for employees based on their job duties and responsibilities, categorized using a combination of job functions and salary grade. Pay grade categories are primarily used for reporting purposes. 

A work status where an non-exempt employee's standard hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week or 40 hours per week for an exempt employee.

A work status where an non-exempt employee's standard hours are a minimum of 17 hours and a maximum of 35 hours per week. An exempt employee is part time if they work less than 40 hours per week.

Total turnover includes turnover for the following reasons:

• Voluntary & Retired
• Involuntary: Ineligible for LTD, Elimination of Position, Expiration of Layoff, End of Appointment, Death. 

Calculation: Terminations / (Active + Terminations)
