The rate used to calculate indirect costs for a sponsored project. The University negotiates this rate with the federal government based on an analysis of indirect costs associated with all sponsored project research activities from a prior year. The University has been negotiating multiple-year predetermined rates since FY 1994. The University only negotiates a research rate, including on-campus and off-campus rates and is applied to all types of sponsored projects where allowed, regardless of activity type. Some schools negotiate separate rates for research, instruction, public service, etc. The current on-campus and off-campus rates are listed on the Proposal Budgeting Information Table.
