University announces tuition, financial aid increases for 2017-18

Tuition for University of Rochester undergraduates in The College will increase 3.7 percent to $51,090 for the 2017-18 academic year. Room and board will increase 3.4 percent to $15,324. Tuition for the Eastman School of Music will also increase 3.7 percent to $51,440.

The University also announces that undergraduate financial aid will increase 4.3 % over the current year forecast to $138.1 million.

“These tuition increases balance our intent to continue to control costs while simultaneously continuing to provide an outstanding education to our students,” said President and CEO Joel Seligman.  “We seek to attract and retain our extraordinary faculty and staff who are critical to the quality education our students expect.”

University Trustees approved the 2017-18 tuition rates for all schools at a February meeting. At the University’s professional schools, the tuition rates will be:

  • Simon Business School: $46,000, remaining the same as 2016-17.
  • School of Nursing’s three semester accelerated program: $66,250, a 4 percent increase
  • Warner Graduate School of Education: $46,081, a 3.6 percent increase
  • School of Medicine and Dentistry (MD program): $54,600, a 4.2 percent increase
