REGIONAL PROGRAMS: GOING PLACESThe Regional Programs office of Alumni Relations and Development is reporting a banner year, setting new records for participation and getting a new name to better reflect its responsibilities. Driven in part by the Regional Sesquicentennial Celebrations, the office counted nearly 10,000 alumni, parents, and guests taking part in its activities during the 1999-2000 year. That's well over the program's goal of 3,500 participants, and is a 228 percent increase over the 1996-97 year. In addition, the office organized 126 events last academic year, an increase of 55 percent over 1998-99. The office's responsibilities have also changed, prompting the name change to College Alumni and Parent Relations office. Under the new name, the office will work more closely with Freshman Orientation, Family Weekend, freshman and senior classes, Commencement, UR Involved, the Career Center, Admissions, the Community Service Network, Student Activities, and other programs.
