Gluhwein

INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS
Prep Time: 5 mins 1. Place pot on stove on medium heat.
Cook Time: 20 mins 2. Slice the oranges into medallions.
Serves: 1 batch 3. Pour the 2 bottles of wine into the pot.
1 large pot 4. Add in all the herbs and seasonings. If
2 bottles of dry red wine adding honey or maple syrup, drizzle it in
1 cup spiced rum or amaretto from a spoon. Stir and reduce heat to a
2 t cardamom simmer, cover, and cook about 5 minutes.
1 t vanilla 5. Remove the cover add in your fruit, and
2 t nutmeg stir.
3 oranges 6. Add in the liquor, stir, cover, and cook 10
1 cup brown sugar (white also works) more minutes (cooking will reduce the
Cinnamon sticks for garnish taste and strength of the alcohol). **If you
really like the taste of the liquor you are
using you can also add it in at the end.
7. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy!

“Make sure the wine you use isn’t too expensive – the less expensive,
the better the Gluhwein turns out! If making white Gluhwin, something
dry, like Chardonnay, can be especially good for this. Berries, like red
or black currants and blueberries, rather than the other optional fruit,
also work along with some honey.”
