4.1.2I am forever grateful for what the University of Rochester has provided me, as one alumnus of the institution: a springboard for my career and life’s journey. But I have always appreciated that the contributions of Rochester reach far beyond me and help improve the lives of countless individuals around the world.

University faculty and staff are engaged in tremendously important, and widely recognized, efforts in scholarship, teaching, health care, and artistic performance. Their research informs the work of other scholars and thinkers around the world. Each day their leading-edge clinical care saves lives. Their teaching has helped educate more than 95,000 living alumni, all of whom, in turn, have touched the lives of the people and communities around them.

The University’s ability to thrive as a world-class institution—providing all of those wonderful benefits to our world—is contingent upon the support it receives from many contributors, including our alumni, parents, and friends. Giving to Rochester is a way of recognizing how much the University matters to so many.

My thanks to all of you who have supported Rochester in the past through your voluntary gifts. I hope that you will continue that generosity. To those who may be “first-time donors,” I urge you to learn about the many opportunities for supporting the programs across the campuses of our distinguished University.

Meliora!
