Our Priorities

Faculty

University of Rochester faculty take on the wicked problems of the world, fearlessly.

John Foxe, PhD, director of the Ernest J. Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, moved to Rochester from New York City because the University is a national powerhouse in the neurosciences. Today, Foxe leads teams of engineers, chemists, biologists, physicians, and neuroscientists to attack massive health problems like Alzheimer’s disease, which will cost the U.S. economy more than $1.1 trillion by 2050.

Changing lives is what we’re all about. We really need to throw the book at these diseases, because the stakes are really high here.

Increased support for all of our faculty—from education, engineering, and business to medicine, nursing, and dentistry—is fundamental to our continued growth and prominence, and will help sustain our distinctive strengths and boost new efforts.

Professorships and fellowships help us attract and retain exceptional faculty, who in turn attract exceptional students. Research funds enable discovery and opportunity. Through their research, our faculty are enriching society, creating new technology, and fueling economic progress locally and globally.

Other Priorities
