Eric Barker named senior director of Campus Dining, Catering, and Retail Services
Following a national search and effective immediately, Eric Barker has been appointed senior director of Campus Dining, Catering, and Retail Services. He brings 25 years of experience from various universities, hotels, and resorts. Throughout his career, he has developed and refined standards for operations, menus, concepts, and facilities, while gaining a deep understanding of the complexities involved in campus dining decision-making. His expertise spans food production and location design, allowing him to ensure that all components of a dining program are carefully aligned for success.

Elizabeth Brown, an associate professor of family medicine, was named the Family Medicine Educator of the Year by the New York State Academy of Family Physicians.
Diane Dalecki, the Kevin J. Parker Distinguished Professor in Biomedical Engineering and director of the Rochester Center for Biomedical Ultrasound, received the 2025 Joseph H. Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
The Warner School of Education and Human Development’s “Get Real! Science” program received the 2025 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from Insight Into Academia magazine.
Jennifer Harman, the executive director of research in the Department of Surgery, received the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) Region II Distinguished Service Award. Anusha Naganathan, the department’s assistant director of research, is the recipient of NCURA’s Emerging Excellence Award.
Ruth O’Regan, the Charles Ayrault Dewey Professor of Medicine and chair of the Department of Medicine, and Wyatte Hall, an assistant professor of public health sciences, the Center for Community Health & Prevention, of obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics, received a National Champion Awards from the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf.
Ann Marie White, director of the Office of Mental Health Promotion and an associate professor of psychiatry, was recently recognized with a Woman of Distinction Award by State Assembly member Jen Lunsford.

University Counseling Center summer services and schedule
The University Counseling Center is open this summer during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is available for full-time students across all University schools. Services include walk-in/same-day appointments, after-hours mental health support, and options for individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, and help finding off-campus care. ‘Ask Security Anything’ session on international travel, loaner devices
University faculty, staff, and students can attend the next “Ask Security Anything” Zoom session with University IT on Thursday, June 5, at 9 a.m. This session covers international travel and the University’s loaner device process. Find information on this and other sessions here.
Drop-in fitness classes at the URMC Fitness Center
In June and July, non-members of the URMC Fitness Center can attend fitness classes on a drop-in basis. Cost per class is $3 for students and $4 for all other University affiliates. Find a schedule of classes and waiver details.
