Change in reporting for the Office of Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX
Effective August 1, the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX has moved from reporting to the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment (OEE) to the Office of Human Resources.
The Office of Human Resources will now support Julia Green, Associate Vice President for Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, and her team as they continue to provide important resources, support, and education related to the administration of the University’s Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Discriminatory Employment/Service Practices (PADH), which prohibits harassment and discrimination based on protected characteristics identified in state and federal law, and Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination, including our resources to prevent and address sexual misconduct.
The shift in reporting will build upon the strong foundation and values-driven approach built by OEE, and allows for greater coordination between formal processes and policies that are the foundation of the Civil Rights Compliance Team’s handling of PADH reports alleging prohibited conduct and the alternative dispute resolution processes that are currently facilitated by Human Resources.
The change also positions the work of OEE, under the continued leadership of Vice President Adrienne Morgan, to have greater focus on education and program development to continue to advance institutional efforts toward a culture of engagement and enrichment.
Program of Dance and Movement Lecturer Kat Sirico remembered
Kat Sirico, a lecturer in dance production and lighting design in the Program of Dance and Movement, is being remembered for the excitement, organization, and creativity they brought to the world of dance. Sirico, who joined the University staff in 2024, died on August 1. University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered for Sirico on Thursday, September 4.

Andrea Barrett, an assistant professor of educational leadership at the Warner School of Education and Human Development, says that she has heard mixed reactions to the idea of using chatbots in her interviews. She also noted that not every college and university has the resources to develop its own tool to provide specialized and accurate information. “If that’s not part of your institutional budget… It’s really about becoming more savvy with the systems that are already in place,” she says. “And so there might be limitations in what can be done.”
