Real-time monitoring for severe weather preparedness
Following last week’s test of the lightning detection and tornado warning alarms, the University’s weather monitoring station located on River Campus is now in service and fully functional for outdoor campus activities and athletic events. Live weather data is available online, and you can also download the WeatherSTEM app for iOS or Android.

There has been a recent uptick in fake emails sent to students offering employment opportunities. These phishing messages come from scammers posing as faculty members who request the “hired” individual provide their bank account information for direct deposit purposes. University IT is blocking the emails as they are reported. Find more information and sample emails here.
If you receive an unexpected message like this, forward the email as an attachment to abuse@rochester.edu, then delete the message and do not respond. If you have already made purchases or wire transfers, please contact Public Safety to file a report. Confirm the sender’s address if you are expecting a message from the student employment office.
Online tuition waiver application available for fall 2025
The online employee tuition waiver application is now available in Workday by clicking on “Benefits and Pay” on the home page under Apps, then clicking on “Employee Tuition Waiver Application” under Suggested Links. All applications must be submitted within 30 days of the start of the course. For more information, visit the tuition benefits website.
