An engineering and tech peer-to-peer fair and panel for students
Fall walking office hours with University Provost Nicole Sampson
The University’s Board of Trustees elected Chris Boehning ’87, ’88 (MS) as board chair at its September meeting. Boehning begins his term as chair immediately and succeeds Rich Handler ’83, who announced the transition in August after completing his fourth and final term. Boehning has served as a University trustee since 2017.
The University has announced revisions to how PhD student tuition is budgeted on grants and internal accounts. The changes are in response to current and anticipated federal funding policies and are designed to sustain lasting support for graduate education. More information is available on the Office of the Provost website.

Opioid overdose prevention training
Students, staff, and faculty can join the Health Promotion Office and Monroe County IMPACT Team for opioid overdose prevention training on Thursday, September 25, from noon to 1 p.m. in Genesee Hall, Room 325. All attendees over age 18 will receive a free Narcan kit. Registration is required.

Experience a Warner School class
Explore graduate programs at the Warner School of Education and Human Development on Monday, September 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The evening includes an in-person information session with the admissions team, a tour of LeChase Hall, and the opportunity to sit in on a real class experience. “Homeowners with fixed-rate mortgages—which is most borrowers in the US—won’t see their rates change,” says Daniel Burnside, a clinical professor of finance at Simon Business School. He added that the one way a homeowner could see their mortgage payment drop is if mortgage rates go down, and then you refinance, “which comes with costs and only makes sense if the rate drop is significant.”
