And, a reminder that the last issue of @Rochester for 2020 will hit your inbox this Friday. Send any submissions to at-rochester@ur.rochester.edu by 2 p.m. today.

Since Wednesday’s notice in @Rochester, there are four new cases of COVID-19 to report: three River Campus students and one Eastman Campus employee. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated daily and dashboard numbers may reflect additional cases confirmed later in the day. When a new case is known, the contact-tracing process begins immediately with the Monroe County Health Department, with confirmed exposures being contacted and required to quarantine. If you think you’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, it’s best to report them through Dr. Chat Bot immediately.
Pursuant to Section 485(g) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, 20 U.S.C. 1092(g), (also known as the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act), the University annually publishes data on athletics participation and spending. A paper copy of the FY20 annual report is available by calling Athletics and Recreation at extension (585) 275-4301 and making a request. An electronic copy of the report is available here.
Because of the University’s observance of the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 25, the pay date for biweekly hourly paid employees will be Thursday, December 24. To meet this earlier pay date for the biweekly hourly payroll, all time must be entered and approved by noon on Monday, December 21, for the pay period ending December 19.
To ensure hourly employees are paid properly, it’s important that all hourly time is entered and approved by the noon deadline on Monday, December 21. Tips on how timekeepers and employees can prepare for the accelerated deadline can be found here.
Are mindfulness apps effective?
Mindfulness is defined as the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment to moment basis. There are many apps that can help to practice mindfulness, but not all of them are useful. Behavioral Health Partners’ December blog explores the effectiveness of mindfulness apps.
