Make a donation before June 30
As the 2021–22 academic year comes to a close, there is still time to make a charitable contribution to any area of the University that is important to you by June 30. Donations can be made online or through payroll deduction. Your collective support will make an immediate difference for students, patients, faculty, and staff. You can help welcome Ukrainian students into the Rochester community this fall by providing a portion of your support to the Global Emergency Response Fund today.
Dramatist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan produced 14 comic operas between 1871 and 1896. Join the Friends of the University of Rochester Libraries for a talk from Gilbert and Sullivan authority Hal Kanthor ʼ66M, ʼ69M (Res), on Wednesday, June 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Plutzik Library on the second floor of Rush Rhees Library. Kanthor will discuss the operatic duo’s influence on 19th-century American advertising through materials from the Kanthor Collection held by the Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation. Register here.
March with the University in the Rochester Pride parade
Join members of the University community marching in the Rochester Pride parade on Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. Find a full FAQ here including shuttle, parking, and shirt information. Please note that in 2019, a decision was made to keep the same shirts every year for environmental and budgetary purposes. If you marched then and still have that tie-dye tank style shirt, you’re encouraged to wear that and not request an additional one as it will not be a different style. If you need a shirt, register here by June 24.
Food drive for Buffalo community
University Health Service is holding a food drive in memory and honor of Mother Pearl Young, a victim of the Buffalo shooting, who ran a food pantry through her church for 25 years; donations will be used to support the pantry at her church. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at boxes in Wilson Commons 201 (Common Connection) and in Lam Square, Rush Rhees Library, over the next couple of weeks.
Face masks are optional for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors indoors. Patient care areas, as well as University shuttles and transportation, continue to require masking. A full description of Medical Center masking requirements is available on the URMC Intranet (University network access required).
