Rochester students in collaboration with and support from the Interfaith Chapel Director Denise Yarbrough will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday, September 24, in memory of Yunan (Candia) Liu, a senior majoring in film and media studies, who recently died. The service takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Interfaith Chapel, River Campus. It will also be streamed live from the chapel’s YouTube channel.
How hydropower turned Rochester into the Flour City

The Career Path Modernization (CPM) project will transform the University’s job structure, which is the foundation for how its workforce is hired, paid, developed, and advanced. In a few weeks, the University will advance one of the most important components of the CPM project, the validation of staff job classifications (such as “technical associate,” “academic counselor,” or “project nurse”), a process that has already begun, to ensure staff members are in a job classification that best represents the work they do. Webinar on child care subsidy
Join the Total Rewards team at one of two webinar sessions to learn more about the new Child Care Subsidy Program. The program was created to assist eligible faculty and staff with child care expenses by providing awards of up to $3,600 a year, depending on total household gross income, through the pre-tax Dependent Care FSA. Applications are being accepted through October 12. Register for a session on Wednesday, September 28, at noon EDTÂ or Tuesday, October 4, at 3 p.m. EDT.
Home ownership incentive program webinar
Attend a webinar from the Office of Total Rewards on Wednesday, September 28, at noon EDT to learn about the University’s home ownership incentive program for benefits-eligible faculty, staff, residents, and fellows. This program is a joint program with the University, the City of Rochester, and participating banks/credit unions to offer you $9,000 toward the purchase of a primary residence.
Updating your beneficiaries
Retirement plan assets are transferred according to the terms of your plan’s beneficiary designation, rather than by the terms of your will. Make sure your beneficiary information reflects your current wishes. Go to TIAA.org/rochester to register or log in to your account. Once logged in, under the “Actions” tab, choose “Add/Edit Beneficiaries.” From there, you can designate beneficiaries and select how much each should receive.

Webinar on master’s programs in the Department of Public Health Sciences
Join faculty from the Department of Public Health Sciences for a webinar about the department’s master’s programs on Wednesday, September 28, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. EDT. Programs are designed to actively prepare graduates for careers in four areas: public health, health services research and policy, epidemiology, and clinical research. The webinar will highlight key elements of each program and discuss program requirements and the application process. Presenters will also discuss the accelerated public health program for undergraduates. Complete this registration form in advance, even if you cannot attend.
