Corporations have emerged as an important force in American life, says David Primo, the Ani and Mark Gabrellian Professor and a professor of political science and of business administration. “They are doing this because they believe the corporate voice matters,” Primo says. “If they didn’t think the corporate voice mattered, nobody would be pressuring corporations.”
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Office of Health Equity Research is interested in starting a youth advisory board for research comprised of adolescents from across the community who can provide feedback to Rochester investigators on their research including areas of research priority and focus, elements of research design, outreach, and recruitment materials, and study materials and forms. Pediatric researchers across the University are encouraged to fill out this brief survey and share their thoughts.

Data Set Grant recipient presentations
On Friday, January 13, two PhD candidates from the Department of Economics will be presenting on research projects that have earned support from the River Campus Libraries Data Set Grant Program: “Industrial Upgrading and the Development of China’s Gig Economy” by Lipeng Chen, and “Original Sin in Emerging Markets: Evidence from Firm Currency Choices in Trade and Financing” by Chang Liu. The presentations will take place in Evans Lam Square, Rush Rhees Library, from 2 to 3 p.m. EST.
On Thursday, January 12, the Eastman School of Music and Beal Institute of Film Music and Contemporary Media present “Visual Music 5.0,” a concert featuring the Beal Institute’s second-year graduate students in a live-to-picture staging of their original compositions. Each composer will conduct the performance of their piece or pieces, as played by the Empire Film and Media Ensemble. Learn more about the concert, taking place at 8 p.m. EST in Kilbourn Hall. The performance is free and open to the public and available to stream live online.
