Ethical Investment Advisory Committee continues its work to identify potential concerns
The Ethical Investment Advisory Committee (EIAC) was formed in 2017 to allow faculty, staff, alumni, students, and others connected with the University to share concerns about ethical issues related to the investment of the University endowment. Those may be submitted online here. Information on the committee’s mission, members, and previous recommendations that have been adopted by the Board of Trustees’ Investment Committee can also be found on the EIAC website.
The University’s endowment is the largest component of the University’s Long Term Investment Pool and provides perpetual, growing, annual support for student financial aid, faculty salaries, facility improvements, academic programs, and many other purposes including the Memorial Art Gallery. The approximately 2,900 individual funds that make up the endowment touch nearly all parts of the University. Endowment spending is a significant source of scholarships awarded to undergraduates and allows many qualified students of widely diverse backgrounds to afford a University education. Spending from the endowment also helps to stabilize the University’s annual budget.
