‘Go Gold’ with Well-U’s spring wellness challenge
Whether you like to swim, bike, row, play pickleball, or do any of a host of other activities, they all count in Well-U’s “Go Gold,” the physical activity challenge with a Summer Olympics theme. Simon PMBA and EMBA virtual visit experience today
After taking in the solar eclipse, skip the traffic and do a virtual visit to learn more about Simon Business School’s EMBA or PMBA programs. Join on Zoom from 5 to 7 p.m. to immerse yourself in the Simon experience by interacting with a staff member and other prospective students, observing a class, and obtaining insight into the graduate business school experience.
Connect with School of Nursing admissions
Stop by Flaum Atrium on Tuesday, April 9, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to chat with an admissions representative from the School of Nursing. Discover how a degree or advanced certificate can transform your nursing or health care career and learn more about grants and scholarships for up to 100 percent tuition coverage. Visitors can also grab a School of Nursing giveaway item and a voucher for a free coffee at Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters.
Presentation explores medieval pandemic medical practices
Learn how different people and professions experienced a 14th-century English pandemic through “Poets, Patients, and Practitioners: Health and Healing in Times of Plague.” The presentation by Eve Salisbury, a professor emerita of English at Western Michigan University, and Caleb Prus, a medical student at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, explores the writings of poets, mystics, and plague doctors to enhance the understanding of the pandemic that struck England in 1348 and lingered for centuries. Sponsored by Friends of the University of Rochester Libraries, the presentation takes place at 5 p.m. in the Plutzik Room, Rush Rhees Library. Voices of XR lecture series
The Mary Ann Mavrinac Studio X welcomes a new round of immersive technology scholars and professionals as part of its Voices of XR series. The lectures will take place weekly from 2 to 3:15 p.m. through April in the Carlson Library’s Studio X on the first floor. Here’s the first batch of lectures:

Wheelchair basketball exhibition match and fundraiser
University Athletics’ Varsity Student Athlete Advisory Committee is hosting a wheelchair basketball exhibition match and fundraiser in collaboration with Rochester Wheels on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Palestra, Goergen Athletic Center. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase to support the organization. Halftime entertainment will be provided by the YellowJackets a cappella group.
Ethics in health care conference
The 2nd annual “Ethics in Healthcare: Facing Challenges Together” conference will be held on Friday, April 26, at the School of Nursing. It will provide education opportunities on ethical topics pertinent to health care and clinical practice. Registration is free. Learn more here.
