Targeting social networks may help prevent suicide in young people at high risk for psychosis
New research suggests the pattern of relationships in which a person is embedded—their social network structure—may offer an avenue for targeted suicide prevention efforts. Led by Anna Defayette, a senior instructor of psychiatry; Steven Silverstein, the George L. Engel Professor in Psychosocial Medicine; and Anthony Pisani, a professor of psychiatry and of pediatrics, the research shows the intervention efforts may particularly serve young people at clinical high risk for psychosis.

Connection to URWireless will require user reauthentication
On Thursday, August 15, at 6 a.m., IT Engineers will update the SSL certificate used for wireless authentication on the UR_Connected and UR_Connected5 wireless networks. Anyone connecting to these networks will be prompted to accept a new certificate for auth.net.rochester.edu on their devices. The maintenance will only happen once per device after the certificate is replaced.
The SSL certificate used for authentication to URWireless networks is replaced once a year. IT engineers are performing this work before the start of the fall semester to better align this annual maintenance with the academic schedule. If you have any issues connecting to URWireless networks, contact the help desk at (585) 275-2000 or Univithelp@Rochester.edu.

Do you handle payment cards (credit or debit cards) or end-of-day balancing, oversee a point-of-sale database, or manage card-accepting software for merchant processing? If so, the PCI Security Standards Council requires annual training, which can be found in MyPath by searching “What is PCI” in the upper right corner. The training applies to all organizations or areas accepting cards via retail point of sale, call centers, and online payments—including MyChart, students, donors, Slate, and Stripe. Even if you handle card data only on occasion, the Office of Treasury Management suggests taking the training. It takes about 15 minutes and can be of personal benefit. Visit the Treasury website to review the updated Payment Card Policy. As a reminder, the policy must be read at least annually. All official communications about devices and card processing will only come from the Office of Treasury Management or Arrow Support. It’s important to remain cautious and contact the Office if you suspect fraudulent activities. For questions, email Kathy King-Griswold.
