Fall Career Week diversity networking reception for students
A lecture and movie screening at Memorial Art Gallery on “The Art of Animation in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”
Beginning October 1, University IT and ISD will implement a new M365 mailbox storage quota to minimize maintenance, maximize performance, and maintain reliability. The new quota will have little to no impact, as it will be based on individuals’ current usage and mailbox size. Read more about the new quotas and how to check your mailbox size.
Get a jump start on meeting with employers during Fall Career Week by attending the Greene Center’s annual Diversity Networking Reception. At the event, you’ll be able to informally engage with employers and alumni from finance, business, tech, and engineering companies before the Fall Career Expo. Ashley George, diversity recruitment manager at Paychex, will deliver the keynote address. Recommended attire is business casual. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. The Graduate Writing Project is hosting an in-person writing retreat October 13–15 from 5 to 8 p.m. each day for graduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences who are working on graduate-level writing such as dissertations, theses, proposals, and publications. The structured writing experience offers guidance, accountability, and community, as well as the option to work one-on-one with a Writing Consultant. Register online. Join the Monroe County Department of Health for opioid overdose prevention training on Thursday, October 10, at noon in the Gowen Room, Wilson Commons. All attendees over age 18 will receive a free Narcan kit. Registration is required, and the training is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Brought to you by the UHS Health Promotion Office and cohosted by the University’s Panhellenic Council.
‘The Art of Animation in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’ at MAG
Join the Memorial Art Gallery and Peter Murphey, senior lecturer in animation from the School of Film and Animation at the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences at RIT, as he explores the ins and outs of drawing in animation, how animation has changed over the ages, and how Disney’s classic helped to set the stage for what is seen today. The lecture is followed by a screening of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Learn more and register to attend on Thursday, October 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
