University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Tuesday, October 8, for Alisa Lopez, a call center representative in the Medical Center’s Access Center Department, who died on August 16. Lopez joined the University staff in 2021.

Title IX Office Dating and Domestic Violence Awareness Month events
October is Dating and Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), helping to raise awareness and build skills to resist domestic violence. Rochester’s Title IX Office is partnering with organizations across campus to provide a month of educational programming. Expand your nursing role with the RN First Assistant program
The School of Nursing’s RN First Assistant program prepares CNORs (Certified Nurse-Operating Room) to take on an expanded role and empowers APRNs (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) to follow their surgical patients throughout the perioperative experience. Throughout a six-week intensive course of interactive online learning activities, two days of hands-on learning and simulation, and a 200-hour clinical internship, discover how to expand the impact of your nursing practice and improve patient care. AR/VR symposium
Hosted by River Campus Libraries, the 2024 AR/VR symposium is the kick-off event working toward the establishment of a transdisciplinary center that will catalyze fundamental research, hardware advances, technology translation, computation, and application of AR/VR systems.
The symposium will highlight the depth and breadth of the University’s AR/VR work through presentations, hands-on demonstrations, lab showcases, and posters. Find details here—including more on the lab showcase and a poster session with a student competition—and register to attend on Friday, October 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event is open to all Rochester and RIT students, staff, and faculty; industry participation is by invitation only.
‘Museum of the Dead’ at Memorial Art Gallery
Attend “Museum of the Dead” at Memorial Art Gallery on Friday, October 25, from 8 to 11 p.m. and enjoy art, music, a costume contest, cocktails, fortune-telling, food, and more. Ticket sales end on Friday, October 25, at 6 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door; doors will close at 9:30 p.m. with no re-entry. This event is for ages 21 and up.
