TODAY'S UPDATES

Thanksgiving holiday office closures

The following offices have noted abbreviated hours and closures due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

  • The Bursar’s Office will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, and will resume regular business hours on Monday, December 2.
  • The Strong Memorial Hospital Cashiers Office will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29.

FOR STUDENTS

Thanksgiving Break shuttles

Complimentary shuttles will be available to transport students to and from the airport and train and bus stations on Wednesday, November 27, and Sunday, December 1. Find more information and the shuttle schedule here. Sponsored by the Students’ Association.

Night to Write and Write-A-Thon

At Night to Write, undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences can drop in anytime and write as long as they like. Snacks, coffee, and good company will help fuel productivity and fight end-of-semester procrastination. Writing tutors and librarians will be available to help and answer questions. Attend on Monday, December 2, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library.

The Writing Fellows will be available to undergraduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences for 12 hours to tutor papers—from any discipline and at any stage in the writing process—while you refuel with pizza and snacks. Write-A-Thon takes place from 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, to 2 a.m. Monday, December 9, in Rush Rhees Library, Room G-122.

Off-campus housing resource fair

Join the Off-Campus Living Program and meet with local property managers and landlords and on- and off-campus partners to learn about living off campus before signing a lease. You’ll also find giveaways, swag, and raffles at the event on Thursday, December 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hirst Lounge, Wilson Commons.

Lecture: ‘This Ain't Texas: Cowboy Carter and Beyoncé’s Demand for Black Creative Visibility in Country and Beyond’

Francesca Royster, a professor of English at DePaul University, delivers the 2024 Two Icons Lecture “This Ain’t Texas: Cowboy Carter and Beyoncé’s Demand for Black Creative Visibility in Country and Beyond.” The lecture takes place Tuesday, December 3, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library.

December concerts at Eastman

December concerts and events at the Eastman School of Music range from Elf in concert to the first Jazz Voice performance. Most of the concerts listed are free and open to the public, and ticketed events may be booked online or by calling (585) 274-3000. Find the schedule and more details here
