Laboratory for Laser Energetics launches IFE-STAR ecosystem, workforce development initiatives
The Laboratory for Laser Energetics has been awarded a grant from the US Department of Energy’s Office of Fusion Energy Sciences to establish the Inertial Fusion Energy Science and Technology Accelerated Research ecosystem. The program will bring together academia, national laboratories, and the private sector to develop a clean, safe, and virtually limitless energy source, built on US leadership in inertial fusion.

Two Rochester faculty members receive the nation’s highest honor for early-career investigators
Ehsan Hoque, a professor of computer science, and Petros Tzeferacos, an associate professor of physics and astronomy and a senior scientist at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, are recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the US government for outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers.
New Duo security enhancements coming
On Thursday, January 23, the University will enable several new Duo features. To take advantage of these features, check if you have the latest version of Duo Mobile through your mobile device app store (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, etc.). These enhancements include a new device verification, changes to make Duo callback more secure, a phone security checkup tool, and the ability to back up and restore your Duo settings on iOS and Android devices. Auditions for Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
The International Theatre Program will hold auditions for the musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 on Friday, January 24, and Saturday, January 25. Henrietta Urgent Care now open
Henrietta Urgent Care, located at 1300 Jefferson Road, Suite 500, is now part of Strong Memorial Hospital. The new facility will allow UR Medicine to support a larger patient population, offering improved services such as walk-in x-ray.
Community-Based Participatory Research Day, cosponsored by the Center for Community Health and Prevention and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, brought together over 80 researchers and community representatives for presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities to educate and equip them for collaboration.
