Historic Yellowjacket game footage is a fountain of youth

A storage room in the Goergen Athletic Center contains film canisters and VHS tapes of more than 1,000 athletic contests dating back to 1927. Learn more about the collection and current efforts by Terry Gurnett, associate director of athletics for Advancement, to have the artifacts digitized.

Changes coming to University Cisco VPN

Over the next month, University IT will be making changes to the Cisco VPN configurations to better protect and stabilize the service. These changes will automatically be applied to your Cisco VPN client the next time you connect. Visit the Cisco VPN service page on tech.rochester.edu for more information.


IN MEMORIAM

Flags will be lowered for Laura Joanette

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Tuesday, February 25, for Laura Joanette, a customer service rep in the Purchasing Department, who died on January 25. Joanette joined the University staff in 2010.

Become a writing fellow

The Writing and Speaking Center is accepting applications for writing fellows. Undergraduate students hired as writing fellows work during evening hours as writing tutors for undergraduate and graduate students and other members of the University community. First-years and sophomores may apply. Students selected through the application process are enrolled in the training course WRTG 245: Advanced Writing and Peer Tutoring before beginning tutoring the following semester. To apply, fill out and submit the online application by Wednesday, February 26. Email Kathy Yan with questions.

Workshop on writing effective multiple-choice questions

Open to all University instructors, this one-hour Teaching Center Zoom workshop supports instructors in writing and organizing multiple-choice questions to be challenging, equitable, and accessible for diverse learners. Register here to attend on Friday, February 21, from noon to 1 p.m.

Program of Dance and Movement Faculty and Capstone Concert

Join the Program of Dance and Movement for this year’s Faculty and Capstone Concert, featuring dances by program faculty and graduating dance majors. Three performances will be held in the Sloan Performing Arts Center: Friday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 1, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 or free with a University ID.
