As we start a new week, here are a few updates you’ll find in today’s issue:

Singer Prizes celebrate high school teachers’ influence on graduating seniors

Four high school teachers who have inspired and influenced graduating seniors from the Class of 2025 will receive the Singer Family Prize for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching. Meet this year’s recipients.

Take a break with therapy dogs at Eastman School

Take a well-deserved study break with the Health Promotion Office today, May 5, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Alec Wilder Reading Room, on the second floor of Sibley Music Library. Relax, recharge, and cuddle up with certified therapy dogs.

Health insurance literacy panel for graduating students

Graduating seniors: Do you have questions about navigating the US health insurance system, knowing what to look for when signing up for insurance through your future employer, or having a plan to find a new doctor and counselor? Get answers to these questions and more at the Health Insurance Literacy Panel on Tuesday, May 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. in Morey Hall, Room 321.

Deadline extended to receive your Simon admission decision before you graduate

Simon Business School is offering a special opportunity to graduating seniors. If you apply to one of Simon’s MS Programs—accountancyAI in businessbusiness analyticsfinancemarketing analytics, or the part-time online MS in business analytics—by 11:59 p.m. on May 11, you will receive your admission decision before Commencement on May 16. As a University senior, the $90 application fee is waived, you have the option to apply without a GMAT/GRE score, and you’re guaranteed $15,000 in scholarship if admitted. If you have questions, set up a chat with a counselor regarding the full-time MS programs or the online MS in business analytics and applied AI.

Today, May 5, is the last day to register and join Well-U’s spring wellness challenge, Star Trak. All University employees can join the fun, focus on well-being, and win prizes all month long. Review the details and register now.

Join Well-U’s mindfulness-based stress reduction program and explore the studied practice of living mindfully and how meditation can help provide more balance, stability, and satisfaction to your life. May ‘ReFRESH’ study support and curbside market

Check out Foodlink’s Curbside Market today, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Wilson Quad. Join the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Food Pantry, and Wilson Commons Student Activities in shopping for fresh, affordable produce and grocery items. All are welcome. The Foodlink Curbside Market accepts cash, debit and credit, SNAP, eWIC, and Double-Up Food Bucks.

Miner Library exhibit honoring National Nurses Month

To celebrate National Nurses Month, Edward G. Miner Library’s History of Medicine section is displaying items from its rare book and archival collections that represent key moments in American nursing history. A History of Care: Celebrating National Nurses Month will be displayed through May 30. The History of Medicine Section is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

‘Live in Living Color’ DeTOUR at MAG

Join the Memorial Art Gallery and Museum Educator Kevin Carr for a DeTOUR on Josef Albers’s color theory, optical illusions, perception, and emotional responses, and how they relate to art, specifically to the works in Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas. Outdoor soccer league

A recreational soccer league, for all levels, will play on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning May 15 through the URMC Fitness Center. Complete information can be found here.

Save the date for the ‘Boundless Together’ annual conference

Mark your calendars for the “Boundless Together” annual conference on October 3 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This year’s theme is “Meeting the Moment” and explores how to respond to recent political and social upheaval through community care, constructive dialogue, and deeper understanding.
