Congratulations, Class of 2025!

Graduates throw their caps in the air.

On May 16, Rochester celebrated its 175th Commencement ceremony, conferring academic degrees to more than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Family, friends, faculty, staff, community members, and distinguished guests celebrated the graduates in person and online from across the globe. Here’s a look back at the Class of 2025’s graduation day. Photo by Lauren Petracca

  • Research shows that taurine drives leukemia growth
  • A virtual Medallion leadership program workshop series
  • The return of Tasty Tuesday
SECURITY TIP

Go the paperless route

Keep your identity safe by shredding documents containing personal information like bank statements, pay stubs, and canceled checks. Recycling or throwing away these treasure troves for identity thieves is not enough to protect valuable information. IT Security offers this tip: if you ditch those mail statements and go paperless with your accounts, you can protect your information, save paper, and save on potential hidden fees. Iron Mountain totes are located around campus for any work-related documents you want to recycle securely.

RESEARCH

Study shows taurine drives leukemia growth

A new Wilmot Cancer Institute study led by Jeevisha Bajaj, an assistant professor of biomedical genetics, identified taurine, which is made naturally in the body and consumed through some foods, as a key regulator of myeloid cancers such as leukemia.

FOR STUDENTS

Virtual summer Medallion leadership program workshop series

The Medallion Program is the University’s premier cocurricular, three-tiered leadership program. Based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and the College Competency of Leadership, this self-paced program aims to create confident change agents in the world. Medallion is hosting a virtual summer series on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Find upcoming events here. Students can send an email if they cannot make that schedule work, but would still like to make progress over the summer.

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Asynchronous learning opportunities to support student well-being

The Well-Being for Life and Learning Training is designed to equip faculty and staff with knowledge and tools to support student mental health, resilience, and success. Grounded in research-backed practices, this training helps build a culture of well-being across learning environments and continues to grow a community dedicated to transforming the student experience.

In-person and synchronous sessions are paused this summer, but you can explore five asynchronous modules now available on MyPath.
