Neurodivergent Rochester undergraduates mentor the next generation

Middle school students and college-aged mentors present a project to a class.

The University’s chapter of the national program Eye to Eye engages and uplifts area middle schoolers with learning differences. Read about the partnership here. FASD Center for Innovation pilot grant program

The FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders) Center for Innovation at Mt. Hope Family Center introduces a new pilot grant program, offering up to $25,000 in funding to inspire cutting-edge research across the University to improve the quality of life for individuals with FASD. To support applicants, the center will host a summer bootcamp on July 29, designed to address knowledge gaps and workshop research ideas. Learn more about the program and the workshop.

Join Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Human Biophysiology Shared Resource for “Hybrid Intervention Development and Delivery in Decentralized Clinical Trials” lunch and learn seminar on Tuesday, June 10, in the School of Medicine and Dentistry Large Auditorium (Room 2-6424). Screening, panel discussion on Recovery City

Join the Center for Community Health & Prevention and community partners for a free screening of Recovery City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, in the School of Nursing Auditorium in Helen Wood Hall. A community panel discussion will follow. Learn more and register.

Juneteenth REAL Conversations with Jeffrey Gardere ’78

Jeffrey Gardere ’78 will explore the themes of building resilience and prioritizing mental health in an era of constant flux, with the dialogue moderated by Adrienne Morgan, vice president of the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment. Advance registration is required for this free event. Upon registration, a Zoom link will be provided.

Submit a Boundless Together Conference session proposal

The Office of University Engagement and Enrichment is accepting breakout session proposals for the 2025 Boundless Together Conference “Meeting the Moment” on Friday, October 3. Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members are invited to submit. Proposal submissions are due July 10.

Safely shred documents for recycling at Shred Fest

Mark your calendars for the 15th annual Shred Fest on July 18, hosted by the Sustainability Office. From 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., stop by the Zone 3 South parking lot on Intercampus Drive for secure and environmentally responsible document disposal. Each person can bring up to five bags/boxes of personal documents. For more details, visit the Sustainability Office web page.

Kennedy has ordered a review of baby formula. Here's what you should know

ABC News, June 3

Scientists say a review is long overdue regarding the most recent data on the composition of human milk and how babies digest and absorb nutrients in breastmilk and formula. In addition, they want the FDA to consider how US formulas compare with those made elsewhere, says Bridget Young, an associate professor of pediatrics and of public health sciences. “How do our regulations differ? Maybe it’s time for them to relook at their regulations and consider potential international harmonization.”
