Traffic lanes reduced on Elmwood Avenue through November 4 |
Due to new emergency department-related construction and utility work in the area, drivers should be aware that traffic on Elmwood Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions near the Strong Expansion construction site today, October 27, through Tuesday, November 4. Access for EMS vehicles will remain open at all times. You can find maps on the Medical Center’s intranet; access to the University network is required.

Open enrollment starts today |
Open enrollment begins today, October 27. Now through November 10, review your benefit options and make any changes for 2026 through myURHR Workday. This is your annual opportunity to update your health care plan, enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), adjust your coverage levels, and sign up for group universal life insurance or other voluntary benefits. Learn more about what’s new for 2026, how to enroll in myURHR Workday, explore FAQs, and review the virtual Q&A and webinar schedule on the Open Enrollment website.

Celebrating the move to Blackboard Ultra courses |
To celebrate the University’s first full academic year in Blackboard Ultra courses, Anthology staff will be in Gleason Library, Rush Rhees Library, on Wednesday, October 29, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Talk to the people who built the system, provide feedback, and pick up some swag.

Car seat check event |
Before the snow arrives, get your child’s car seat or booster seat checked by a certified child passenger safety technician on October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Golisano Children’s Hospital upper loop. Read more and make an appointment here.

Spooky lab sustainability mini-fest |
Come dressed up in your spookiest lab coats to the first-ever lab sustainability festival on Friday, October 31, hosted by the Sustainable Labs Initiative, in partnership with the Center for Advanced Research Technologies and the Sustainability Office. Bring those Styrofoam containers and tube racks that have been lurking in the corners of your lab for recycling. Trick-or-treat bags and candies will be provided, and the three best lab coats will win prizes. This event is for faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdocs.

Personal color harmony and Frontiers of Impressionism at MAG |
During this lecture on Thursday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m., Kerry Jones, an international industry leader and innovator in personal color analysis, will share the color theories that she uses, developed by artists, and will show the link between personal color and the colors in nature and art, using examples from the Memorial Art Gallery’s Frontiers of Impressionism exhibition. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program information session |
First-year graduate students or students planning to apply for graduate school in a research-based social science or STEM field may be eligible to apply for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The Student Fellowships Office hosts an information session focused on application strategies on Tuesday, October 28, at 5 p.m. in Dewey Hall, Room 2-162. Registration is not required, but is helpful.
