URochester and RIT receive federal funding to further develop an experimental quantum network |
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is providing URochester and Rochester Institute of Technology $2 million to build new capabilities for the Rochester Quantum Network (RoQNET). This new funding was secured by US Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and US Representative Joseph Morelle as part of the fiscal year 2026 appropriations bill.

The secret to happiness? Feeling loved |
How to Feel Loved: The Five Mindsets That Get You More of What Matters Most, cowritten by Harry Reis, a Dean’s Professor in Arts & Sciences and a professor of psychology, blends decades of research on happiness and human connection. Its thesis is both comforting and confrontational: If you don’t feel loved, you might be looking in the wrong direction.
Relatedly, you can also view a recent Ever Wonder video with Reis that explores the question “How is AI changing the way we love?”

Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology Ambulatory Team |
Each week, HR shines a spotlight on a faculty or staff member who has been recognized as a UR Star. The Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology Ambulatory Team was recognized for demonstrating Excellence.
During a building evacuation, our team came together seamlessly to ensure all staff and patients, including clinic, allergy, and infusion patients, were moved quickly and safely to our designated meeting area. We immediately gathered the necessary life-safety supplies to support our infusion and allergy patients in the event of an adverse reaction, and made sure we had warm blankets ready for the inclement weather before heading outside. Clinic doors were marked appropriately to ensure the fire department could move quickly and safely through our space. I am truly grateful and incredibly proud of how this team worked together to keep our patients safe. Once we were cleared to re-enter, everyone jumped right back in, helping patients return indoors safely and resuming clinic, allergy injections, and infusion schedules as if nothing had happened.
