After two decades of leadership at the University, Julie Myers, vice president for information technology and chief information officer, will retire effective August 31. For faculty and staff

Be aware of third-party websites resembling federal research resources

The University has recently become aware of a third-party platform operating as “PubMed AI” (pubmed.ai) that is not affiliated with or endorsed by the official PubMed service (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), despite branding that may suggest NIH sponsorship. The tool has reportedly been shared within some departments. More broadly, members of the research community should be aware that third-party websites or tools may sometimes adopt names, branding, or interfaces that resemble federally supported research resources. These platforms may not be affiliated with or endorsed by the federal agencies or services they appear to reference.

Researchers are encouraged to remain mindful of the source and affiliations of external platforms and to follow existing University guidance when using third-party AI or research tools. Contact abuse@rochester.edu with questions or concerns.
