Dalal family establishes new fellowship in AI ethics |
As part of For Ever Better: The Campaign for the University of Rochester, Siddhartha “Sid” Dalal ’71 (MA), ’73S (MBA), ’76 (PhD) and his children—Nemil Dalal and Preeyel Dalal ’06—have committed more than $1 million to establish the Dalal Family Postdoctoral Fellowship in AI Ethics at the Goergen Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The new fellowship will advance research and teaching focused on responsible design, development, deployment, governance, and societal implications of AI systems.

Summer yoga at the Goergen Athletic Center |
Find your balance this summer with energizing yoga classes offered from May 18 through August 30. Classes take place every Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Leibner-Cooper Room at the Goergen Athletic Center. Please note that from May 6, for approximately two and a half weeks, classes will temporarily relocate to the Aerobics Studio. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, these sessions provide a welcoming space to stretch, strengthen, and unwind. Yoga mats and props are provided. Classes are open to all full-time students and R-Club members. Faculty and staff can also participate by becoming R-Club members through the Goergen Athletic Center. These sessions are brought to you by Health Promotion, the Goergen Athletic Center, and Yoga Vibe 585. No registration is required.

Health Lab pitch competition |
Watch innovators pitch breakthrough healthcare solutions at the URochester Health Lab Pitch Competition. Teams will present technology-fueled ideas designed to improve patient outcomes and transform care delivery at URochester Medicine. The winning team receives $1,000 in seed funding plus resources to develop their concept into a proof of concept or minimum viable product for piloting.

Lisa Kahn, the Helen F. and Fred H. Gowen Professor in the Social Sciences, commented on the job market for 2026 graduates. “Graduates are still in a much better position than non-college workers, and this bears repeating early and often,” says Kahn.
