Landmark gift endows urology professorship

As part of For Ever Better: The Campaign for the University of Rochestercommunity leaders Vinod Luthra, an engineer, business developer, and founder of Barrington Residential, and Vinay Luthra, a retired family medicine physician, have committed $2 million to establish an endowed fund at University of Rochester Medicine. The Vinod and Vinay Luthra Family Distinguished Professorship in Urology will provide lasting support for faculty leadership and help recruit and retain leading physician-scientists.

In memoriam

Flags will be lowered for Ralph Saunders

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department, and the flags atop the Eastman Theatre at the corner of Gibbs and Main Streets, will be lowered on Tuesday, July 7, for Ralph Saunders, a professor of dentistry, who died on May 19. Saunders joined the University in 1975.

Summer applied genomics seminar on RNA processing

The next summer applied genomics seminar is on Monday, June 15, on RNA processing with Aiswarya Balakrishnan, a graduate student in the lab of Eric Wagner, a professor of biochemistry and biophysics. The session takes place from noon to 1 p.m. in Wegmans Hall, Room 1005.

NSF I-Corps information session

Hosted by the Interior Northeast I-Corps Hub (IN I-Corps), the virtual NSF I-Corps information session on Wednesday, July 15, at noon is designed for busy graduate students, postdocs, and faculty interested in learning more about I-Corps regional and national programming. Register here by July 14.

Submit a Medallion Leadership Program proposal

The Medallion Leadership Program offers URochester staff, faculty, and community members the opportunity to submit a workshop proposal. The program hosts 2-3 workshops per week during the academic year and one per week during breaks. Submit proposals by July 22 to be considered for the 2026–27 academic year.
