UR Stars spotlight

Fei Shi, academic counselor

Each week, we shine a spotlight on a faculty or staff member who has been recognized as a UR Star. These colleagues exemplify our values, inspire others, and make us ever better. Fei was recognized for demonstrating Meliora.

“Fei has always been a tremendous partner to our work in CARE- I know that whenever Fei submits a referral or checks in with me or our team about a student, they are getting the most compassionate and robust support. She always leads her conversations with students with empathy, and centers their humanness first. Before any conversation about academics or other problem solving is started, Fei emphasizes that student health and well-being is the foundation of their success and encourages students to prioritize that well-being. She is so thorough, and makes sure that students leave her meetings with options on what next steps are, and always with introductions to support on campus. She is warm, encouraging, and I am so comforted to learn when Fei is the advisor for a student who is referred to CARE because I know they are in the best possible hands.”
