Important Update from Provost Clark: Extension of Undergraduate Spring Break and New 3/23 Start Date for Undergraduate and Some Graduate Classes

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Earlier today, I met with the deans of all of our schools, graduate program, and the University of Rochester Libraries. We jointly decided to accede to our students’ and parents’ requests to extend the University spring break by a week, and to begin spring semester classes for AS&E, Eastman, and some other schools on Monday, March 23. This will allow extra time for instructors to complete their preparations for remote teaching, and for undergraduates who are returning home to move out of their residence halls without having to take classes at the same time.
If you have questions about this change, please consult your respective Dean’s Office.

One additional important note: Graduate classes at Simon, and classes that are already in progress online at other schools, for example, Warner, are not affected and are proceeding as originally scheduled.

Thanks to all of you as we navigate this increasingly complex environment. I realize circumstances seem to be changing by the minute; we are trying to address these changes in real time and make decisions in the best interests of our community.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Clark
Provost
