RE: Vaccine Requirement Policy and Exemption Details
As you know, the University is instituting a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for all faculty and staff effective September 27, 2021. Additionally, New York State recently passed a mandate for health care workers, which covers many of our University’s employees.
The full details of the University’s requirement are now available through the COVID-19 Healthcare Provider Vaccination Policy (#164), which applies to those individuals at the University for Rochester Medical Center covered by the New York State mandate, and the COVID-19 Vaccine Policy (#165) for all other employees, including additional clarity for employees looking to request an exemption.
As previously stated, the medical exemptions align with FDA/CDC vaccine contraindications (severe, life threatening allergic reactions). Additionally, we have clarified that University employees may apply for a religious exemption, including those who are covered under the New York state mandate. An online exemption request form will be available at this link on Tuesday September 7, 2021.
