Day of Giving

Day of Giving is a powerful, 24-hour campaign that brings together the entire University of Rochester and Medical Center community to celebrate generosity and drive meaningful impact. Advocates are key to amplifying this effort by raising awareness, encouraging donations, and showcasing the transformative power of philanthropy.

By becoming an Advocate and mobilizing your network, you help create meaningful opportunities for researchers, students, healers, and artists—not just today, but for years to come.

What does a Day of Giving Advocate do?

As an Advocate, your role is to:

Raise awareness on social media – Post and share content to increase visibility and engagement. While logged in as an advocate, you should use the share buttons to generate your unique fundraising link and post on social media.

Connect with your network – Reach out to fellow alumni, volunteers, colleagues, family, and friends via email, text, and social media.

Lead by example – Make a donation of any amount to the areas of the University or Medical Center that you care about most. It’s easier to ask your friends and family to join you in making a gift when you’ve already done it!

How to get started

  1. “Log in” to your Give Campus account or “sign up” as an advocate to get started.
  2. Once logged in, click the preset buttons at the top of the campaign page to share your unique fundraising link directly on Facebook, X (Twitter), or LinkedIn. OR, click the “Copy to Share” button to use your unique fundraising link in an email or text message.
  3. For advanced options, you can visit your Advocacy Dashboard.
  4. Want to advocate for a specific school or program? Navigate to that school’s campaign page (e.g., School of Arts & Sciences) and click the preset sharing buttons to copy or share a unique fundraising link that goes directly to that school’s page.

Posting tips

  • Personalize your outreach and consider posting multiple times leading up to the day. For example, create awareness (“Save the date…”), share why you support the University or Medical Center (“I support the UR because… Join me”), and make a direct call to action (“Help me reach my goal of X donors…”)
  • Include the hashtag #URGiving and your personal advocate link, if you have one, when you post online.
  • Make your posts public so they can be featured on the Day of Giving website.
  • Consider tagging University of Rochester accounts in your posts.
  • Like, comment on, or re-share posts from university accounts or other’s Day of Giving posts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
