After being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years, teaching high
         school history, and then working nights at Highland Hospital
         as a patient care technician, Dianne “Dee Dee” Rutigliano
         decided to further her career in nursing. “I wanted to make
         a difference and help others. Becoming a nurse was the way
         I could definitely do that,” she says. Rutigliano knew that
         the fastest route to becoming a registered nurse was to apply
         to the University of Rochester School of Nursing’s APNN
         program.

         Rutigliano realized she would be unable to work due to the
         intensity of the program. She worried about the financial
