Mary Lou Ognibene writes to note the death of her cousin, Samuel De Palma, on March 21 at the age of 83. A 28-year employee of the U.S. State Department, he retired in 1973 as assistant secretary for international organization affairs. After leaving the State Department, he went on to work as international analysis unit director of ITT Corp. and president of the American and international committees for A Community of Democracies. He was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs, the Cosmos Club, and the United Nations Association.

Frederick Halik received the Distinguished Service Award from the New York State Dental Association. He is a past president of the state association and was a delegate to the American Dental Association. A longtime pioneer in the field of forensic dentistry, he is credited with helping the New York association introduce legislation that became the Missing Persons and Identification of Unknowns Act, passed by the New York legislature in 1987.

Barbara Sykes Walter ’50 sends a clip from an article by Floyd Inda in the Racine, Wis., Journal-Times. Floyd wrote to the paper to offer readers a springtime seeding of his "school flower," noting, "My school flower is the beautiful dandelion! You’ll love it!"

55TH REUNION

Edwin Colodny’s term as interim president of the University of Vermont ended in July when the university appointed Daniel Fozel president. Colodny is a senior trustee of the University.
