designed to connect Rochester city schools with a network of research-based
models and educators.

Eastman Renames Community Education Program
The Eastman School of Music’s noncollegiate division, which offers more
than 1,100 students of all ages and ability levels a wide variety of opportunities
to learn and perform music, has a new name and location. As part of an effort
to better emphasize the Community Education Division’s mission and role
in the Rochester community, the division has been renamed the Eastman Community
Music School. And, thanks to a gift from Eastman Board of Managers member and
University trustee Martin Messinger ‘49, the school is buying a building
at 10 Gibbs Street to provide administrative and faculty studio space for the
community program. The building, which already houses some of Eastman’s
administrative offices, will be officially dedicated to Messinger’s mother,
Anne Waltuck Messinger, after renovations are complete.
